Greetings Friends,

I bet you were wondering where is our annual letter updating you as to what’s happening at VBYC and asking for your support. Well, we didn’t lose your address. We experienced a situation in which “if it could go wrong, it went wrong”, and so now you are receiving an updated letter and we beg your forgiveness.

From Polar Bears to campfire skits, each day at VBYC is filled with leadership experiences, companionship, and just plain fun. Our staff, volunteers, and folks like you help to create a transformational experience for young people from our community. And now SW Michigan and its young people need a place like VBYC more than ever. Last year saw the most campers we’ve ever had sign up. The need for a welcoming, inclusive, and positive place removed from “regular” life is greater than ever, as our nation’s children are experiencing an unprecedented mental health crisis. We remain firmly committed to creating that space by upholding the values listed in our leadership badge below.

Supporting VBYC can be many things, including you recommending Camp to a friend for enrollment or a summer job, volunteering your time to help us ready Camp, attending fundraisers to show support, or even just liking us on Facebook. All support is valued no matter the size and we are grateful that you choose to be part of the Camp family.

We are now in the process of tackling some really big projects. Among them is the renovation or construction of a new bath house facility that will allow for the privacy necessary for the inclusive needs of today’s camper population. Also our two 90 foot waterfront docks are badly in need of replacement. Both of these will be very expensive. As a vital member of the Camp family, we hope that we can count as always on your support to keep the VBYC magic alive. Thank you!

In The Spirit of Camp,

Dottie Myers- Hill
