What is the Cost of Day Camp at VBYC?

Day Camp is $200/week for each camper. Each Day Camp sessions runs Monday through Friday.  If you choose to not send your camper each of those 5 days, it will be $50/day/camper. We do need to know which days your camper will be attending when you register them for camp so that we can plan ahead for food, activities and staff.

What types of activities will we be offering during Day Camp sessions?

Swimming, canoeing, kayaking, nature, arts and crafts, song, dance, drama, cooking, target practice, sports, outdoor living, and more!

Will masks be required?

Yes, masks will be required.  If you do not send your child to camp with a mask, VBYC will provide a mask for them.  These will remain at camp during their session and will be washed nightly by our staff.

How will we practice social distancing?

We will have small group sizes with multiple activities happening at one time.  Our common areas such as the bathhouse and lodge will be closed to campers. This will enable us to streamline who is where and how many people are there at one time.

Will parents be allowed to come inside the lodge during drop-off and look at past camp photos, walk around the campground, etc. as they have in the past?

No. This summer is obviously going to be very different than our past summers.  We need to be sure to put social distancing practices in to place at all times and are also limited on the space we have available during our registration process.  When you bring your child to Day Camp, they will be the only one leaving the car at drop-off.  Parents/caregivers will not be allowed to exit their car.

What will happen at drop-off?

Daily, when you come to camp with your camper, we will take their temperature before they even leave the car with an iProven professional forehead thermometer.  If your camper does not have a fever, their day at camp can begin! 🙂

What if we have never been to camp and would like to look around?

We would love to have you come visit camp and see all that we have to offer here.  There are going to be a few days during the summer (not during Day Camp sessions) when you will be able to come out to camp by appointment, take a camp tour and get all of your questions answered.  🙂  Our first day for this will be July 2nd.

How will we know what our camper(s) is doing during their day at camp?

We are excited to have a social media staff member living out at camp this summer who will be taking photos daily of activities and posting them for you to enjoy.  We will also have daily camp schedules put into place so that your camper and you can know what their Day Camp experience is going to look like.

Will masks be required?

Yes!  Masks are required. Please send your child to camp with a mask.  VBYC will also provide a mask for them.  These will remain at camp all week and will be washed nightly by our staff … clean, fresh and ready for the next exciting day. By having two masks, there will be a spare in case one gets wet or dirty.

How will social distancing be practiced?

We will have multiple activities happening at once with small groups at each one. Our common areas such as the Bath house and the Lodge will be close to campers, except for the Lodge bathrooms. This will enable us to streamline who is where and how many people are there at one time.

Will the bathhouse be open to use the bathroom and take showers?

The bathhouse will not be open.  The bathrooms in the Lodge will be available for anyone who needs to use the bathroom or wash their hands.  We will be able to monitor social distancing and cleanliness better by using only one set of restrooms. There will also be other hand washing stations set up around camp as well as an outdoor shower to rinse off after swimming.

Will parents be allowed to come inside the Lodge during drop-off and look at past camp photos, walk around the campground, etc. as they have in the past?

Unfortunately, no. This summer is obviously going to be very different than our past summers.  We need to be sure to follow the guidelines set by the American Camp Association during the Covid 19 Pandemic. Social distancing practices need to be in place at all times and that also limits the space we have available during our Registration process.  When you bring your child to Day Camp each day, they are the only ones allowed to leave your vehicle at drop-off.  Parents/caregivers/other children will be asked to stay in the vehicle.  Thank you!!

What will drop-off be like each day of Day Camp?

When you come to camp, a staff member will take your campers temperature with an iProven professional forehead thermometer before they even leave your vehicle. If your camper is fever free, their day at camp can begin! Please see our Covid 19 Response Plan for details.

What if my child is sick one morning?

Do not bring them to Day Camp.  Please call our office ASAP to let us know they will not be here that day. Please be prepared to describe their symptoms and report their temperature.
